Runner beans climbed…
Share
A seed - so much potential. If we can give children an opportunity to sow something, plant something, watch something grow - look after something - it becomes a little bit of magic in a pot. All it takes is one seed. One little pot. A small amount of earth or compost. Water. A sunny windowsill. And later on a beanpole in the ground - and a little bit of responsibility. Watch the tendrils curl. Watch it climb. Notice the flowers…the bees, the bean pods. Wait to pick them - eat them. All from one little seed. Quite an incredible thing, really. In the book, climbing runner beans is a gentle metaphor for changing seasons and for Grandad growing older - for children, understanding how this process happens in nature is helpful.
Sow the seed.
