The rusty old hinges squeaked on the gate…

As autumn arrives, we may begin to look back fondly on a glorious summer and look forward with trepidation towards cold, winter days. We may feel less inclined to wrap up warm and enjoy walks in nature; we may sense energy levels dropping, our bodies wanting to rest more…there may be less of an inclination to begin a new project or be creative. This is reflected in nature; leaves fall from their trees and there is a real sense of slowing down. Perhaps see this as necessary rather than as the end of something; perhaps consider the value of this time - time to rest, time to prepare - time that can be enjoyed in different ways and perhaps most importantly, time to reflect on what’s most important in your life. For Grandad, this was a time when priorities changed and in his garden, as a result, wonderful things began to happen; it was the beginning of something - not the end.
